The 3CX Android SIP softphone app for IP PBX now comes with PUSH technology.
This is Google Cloud Messaging technology, which wakes up a smartphone in standby so that it can receive calls.
With this technology, users do not need to keep the phone app running to receive incoming calls.
As a result, users can save battery and make it last longer.

Here is how it works:
When the mobile softphone is connected to the internet, it registers with GCM and then receives feedback in the form of a registered RegID.
The RegID is passed on to the 3CX IP PBX for later use.
When there is an incoming call, the system asks GCM to perform a wake-up call (Google push).
At that moment GCM sends a push notification that there is an incoming call and wakes up the softphone app to receive the call through the SIP Softphone.
With Google push, remote extensions (softphones) are expected to receive calls even when the smartphone is in standby mode, the app is closed, and so on.
